We're Just Getting Started
We are a small group of mostly retired former public employees and professionals who, so far, have used our own pooled funds to provide over $20,000 in financial aid to new and continuing college students. We have also volunteered at community-based organizations like St. Mary's Food Bank, Salvation Army Thanksgiving and Christmas Drives, and St. Vincent de Paul efforts for the homeless. The founding members and current officers of our group are John Pittman (President), Irvin Tate (Vice President), and Rochelle Wilson (Treasurer). Our active membership has seen a fourfold increase since 2013, going from 10-12 members at inception to over 50 members as of May, 2016. Our Facebook Profile Page boasts an additional 150 or so followers. And we are just getting started!
As expressed on our FB page, the mission of the “Gang” is to work as a team to identify and provide community support for worthwhile projects that improve family values and address needs of individuals. We intend to partner with youth groups and established organizations so as to enhance outreach and increase the likelihood of successful results.
